/Korean sensation Psy has today made history by becoming the first ever Korean to top the UK Singles Chart. His song ‘Gangnam Style’ has swept the entire Globe, clocking up over 300 million views on You Tube, breaking world records and topping the iTunes Charts in over 30 countries, including the US and UK. 
 
On hitting the top spot Psy said:
 

“Thanks to all the UK fans out there for supporting me and Gangnam Style”

 
Korean rapper/singer Psy, real name Park Jae-Sang, burst on to the scene earlier in 2012 when his video for ‘Gangnam Style’ became an overnight sensation, leading to an incredible number of copy cat videos and tributes. Psy has set his sights on global domination, and with a UK Number 1 and currently being Number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and rising, he has become a truly global phenomenon. 
 
Psy looks set to be the first K-Pop artist to fully transfer from South Korea to a Global audience. K-Pop as a genre is now going through a period of mass globalisation and Psy’s success has become an integral part of this process. 
 
Gangnam Style has been backed by a huge amount of stars, James Corden tweeted his love for it, as did Tom Cruise and Katy Perry. Britney Spears was taught the dance live on the Ellen Show and Robbie Williams took to his website to profess his love.
 
Psy has signed a management deal with Justin Beiber’s manager Scooter Braun, and ‘Gangnam Style’ is released through School Boy Records/Universal.
